Feng Shui Take Away Tips

Last week we were thrilled to host the first event in our new showroom featuring Tanya Hames of Perfect Sanctuary, a Feng Shui specialist, alongside co-sponsers Kendrick Rose and Concentric. Tanya shared plenty of thought provoking ideas around bringing balance and harmony to your life through the principles of Feng Shui in your home.

Ultimately, the practice of Feng Shui shows your home should be a reflection of your life, or of the life that you'd like to enjoy and achieve by increasing good energy and minimising bad energy.

Therefore if there are elements of your home that are in disorder or not in harmony with the lifestyle you'd like - it could be holding you back. With this in mind, it is also important that your home reflects you and your personality so that your spaces are working to support you and your ambitions, showing your best and true self.

Here are our top 5 take aways that we learnt on the evening. These are small changes that could have a big impact on your space, well being and life course.

1. Clear The Clutter
As the saying goes - tidy home, tidy mind. And this is big in Feng Shui. It's not always easy but keeping your home free of clutter will help your day to day life, both in and outside of the home, run smoothly. The best way to help cut the clutter is functional, practical storage. But that doesn't mean it can't be beautiful too. Speak to us about bespoke, built in storage with hundreds of finishes to create something that works for you, your family and your lifestyle.

2. Sleep Strong

You should sleep with a solid, strong headboard behind you. In Feng Shui principles, this represents the strength and support of mountains. Outside of this, a statement headboard is also a simple way to bring some style to your bedroom space. Choosing calming, soft colours and fabrics can create a soothing space that allows for relaxation for a fully supported, rested nights sleep.3. Romance Is A Game For Two

If you're looking for love or working on your relationships, having sets of two (particularly in the South West area of your home) will encourage partnerships to flourish. Think a pair of accent chairs, nest of tables or a two stools.

4. Bring It In

The entrance to your home is hugely important. Many of us use a side entrance rather than the actual front door - however in the Feng Shui principles your main entrance needs to be entrancing. Make the most of this space and use it! This encourages wealth and an abundance of good energy to flow into your home. In addition, coming home to a beautiful hallway just makes your home feel that extra bit special.

5. Faux Is Dead

Feng Shui is all about good energy and harmonised vibrations. Faux flowers and plants are essentially dead energy, so minimising these and introducing living plants and flowers will help up the good energy. Money trees or round leafed plants in the South East area of your home will enhance your wealth and abundance energy. Remember can also pick up grab and go blooms by Mark Howe from our showroom every Friday or Saturday to give your home a weekend boost!
